Moving forward

We've got Liam's new scan date; March 27th.

So I've come to the realization that we can't keep putting things "on hold" until after each scan... things like celebrating the end of chemo, birthday parties, vacation planning, etc... so from this moment on, I'll try to keep moving forward and not get hung up on the fact that every three months, for the next two years we'll be doing scans... It then drops to every four months for a year, then every six, etc... until we hit the five year mark.

In the mean time, it's time to get moving on the to-do list, including putting away the last of the Christmas decorations.

A few minutes of fun to start the day

The bubble machine is in overdrive this morning

Liam was finally discharged today.

Everyone in the house is exhausted from the week behind us; we definitely we need a break from all this and the doctors agree… no one wants to see Liam back at MGH for a while.

Fine by us.

Between the flu and the pneumonia, we know his chest x-rays are hazy. An anesthesiologist wouldn't want to put Liam under for a CT, and the scan would be difficult to interpret anyway. So it’s being rescheduled, maybe in a month, maybe “end-of-month” I can’t remember, it’s all a blur. We’ll call the hemock clinic next week and check in….

I sat down at the computer tonight to try to catch up on the work I missed this week, over 250 new email to sort thru, and I’ve been trying for ½ hour now to clean out my mailbox so that I can respond to some… nice feature we have at work, if your mailbox is over the limit, you can receive email, but not respond… I gave up on it in favor of posting an update on Liam.

So we’re hoping no one else in the house gets the flu, although I’m inclined to say Bridgett had it 1st about a week and a half ago. Owen & Jack spent some time out of school this week more to just take it easy, than any clear symptoms of the flu. Unfortunately I think Liam is going to have to stay in seclusion for at least another day or so… his favorite team will have to play Friday night without him. There was a nice article in the Brockton Enterprise about Liam, Bridgett and the team… thanks too to Caitlin and Colleen for driving the truck into Boston Wednesday night, Liam and I were able to make a quick escape today because of you.

The playroom comes to room 1718

Off the IV's for a while yesterday, but still confined to the room. The childlife volunteers brought lots of stuff to Liam's room to play with...got our first smiles in a while last night.

Fevers and breathing overnight seemed good (to me anyway) we'll see what the bosses have to say... They usually round before 10:30.......

Add influenza B to the list

A retest for the flu turned up positive this afternoon; at least now we know why Liam's had such high fevers.

Up and Down

Still here at MassGeneral.
Liam had a chest xray which showed pneumonia in his lower left lung..(in my opinion, that's his "good" lung). Fever's still coming and going...switched to a different antibiodic last night..here for a while longer.

No Scan Today

..rescheduling for next week. Liam is still getting pretty high temps once the tylenol wears off. He's negative for just about everthing you can test for... I'm thinking maybe we pushed him a little to hard last week.

# 52 1/2

Not too long after celebrating another big win at BSC, me, Bridge and Liam headed to our favorite Boston hangout. Liam's temp has ranged from 99 to 104 in the last 12 hours, not sure what this does for the CT planned for tomorrow, we'll see the oncall Dr. Later today.
